Quick Bio:

Growing up in New Orleans, Alex has been surrounded and influenced by the city’s vibrant musical culture all of her life. Alex is a graduate of Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi, where she had the privilege to study voice with renowned classical soprano, Dr. Cheryl Coker. During her studies, she toured Europe with the prestigious Millsaps Chamber Singers and was a featured vocalist with the Jackson Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2007 Alex was given a full scholarship to complete her Masters in Jazz Performance at the University of New Orleans. She has led her group at many of New Orleans finest music venues, including the grand opening of the State of Louisiana Jazz Museum, the New Orleans French Quarter Festival and Snug Harbor.
Alex’s performs regularly in New York City and New Orleans. Her first full-length album as a band- leader featured a stellar backup band recorded and mixed by Grammy award winning engineer Neal Cappellino and was released in 2014. Following the release of the album she was nominated by Offbeat Magazine for "Best Emerging Artist." In 2016 she released an album of standards with Jazz guitar legend Hank Mackie funded by the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation called "The Night We Called It A Day" It's been played on NPR's Saturday Night Jazz with Jack Hopke and made it on the first round grammy ballot for "Best Jazz Vocal Album" in 2017. She is currently working on her next full length album to be released December of 2018. She taught classical voice at Louisiana Academy of Performing Arts from 2010 - 2015 and has taught privately in her home studio since 2012. Her experience as a performer, recording artist, composer, and guitarist all adds to her ability to help students not just learn how to sing, but how to lead a band, communicate with fellow musicians, and have a good time on stage!
